Can you name a tune after hearing just a few notes? Are you quick with words, puns and imagination?

Well, if so, I’d like you to name a class for me.

I’m launching a 3 month business class in January.  And it doesn’t have a name.

The beta class is called “Beta Business Class.”

I agree, not very imaginative :)

Here’s where YOU come in.

I have a box of Belgian truffles that I purchased on Thursday in Brussels. This is the reward present. It’s worth about $25 US and then once I airmail the box to you, that’ll be another $25 probably!

The store in Brussels is called A.M. Sweet, and they make really great handmade truffles.  And I bought a box just for you.

The Contest:

Name the 3-month business class.  It’s built around the concept of Discipline + Action = Results + Excellence.  But just calling it the DARE business class is a bit lame.

The fundamental concepts covered in the class are (1) changes on the inside that are required to move you from being an employee to self-employed, (2) what do you want your business to be known for, (3) the trip you take your clients on that takes them from ‘prospect’ to ‘client’, (4) support, rewards, accountability required to be successfully self-employed, (5) communication and the voice of your company, (6) creating products and services.

Finally, I should tell you that I’m fond of alliteration. But I’m all used up on the letter B (Back to Basics, Beyond the Basics, Beta Business, Best Ever Christmas Baking) and V (Very Veggie Videos, Very Veggie Recipes).

The idea of alliteration is a good one, though, as it lends rhythm.

Naming a class is like naming a tune. It doesn’t have to rhyme or have the same initial consonants. But it does have to flow.

So, here’s my question. Can you name that tune for me?

I have some fabulous Belgian truffles for you if you can :) Contest closes November 20th.

All best,
Shelley

    • But it’s also about the bravery and ‘newness’ of working on your company. It’s the teamwork you need to get going, to step off the curb instead of walking back and forth on the sidewalk. To REALLY go for it this time, instead of talking about it. How do we capture THAT in a name?

  6. Maybe:
“Holy Wowie. I think I’m going to do it this time.”

    “Catapulted Cravings”

    That’s all I have to offer :)

“Catapult” – to me it says, “step off, into your own wild abyss!” But, the “cravings” part says you’ve been thinking about it for awhile, so you have a PLAN. PLAN = SUCCESS. Well, and there’s also the underlying sexuality in the title and that ALWAYS sells.

Bring on the chocolates! I’m having some catapulted cravings!!

  15. how about song lyrics, like “You Can Start It Up”
or “Taking Care of Business” … hmm, maybe not.

Maybe “Your Business Cookbook” … well, it’s not a book.

And I like “Cook Up Your Business” – because “cook up” sound good together, but it’s too much like cooking the books … or making meth amphedamines in your kitchen!

I think something with “Business Basics” or similar in the title because it gives a route to further courses, and clearly defines where it sits within your framework. But I don’t envy you the choice from all the great names suggested above.
Looking forward to the class, whatever you decide to call it!!

The Business Basics – D.A.R.E to follow the dream

  24. I like Business Breakthrough…because that’s what I feel like I’m having, as a beta tester of the class. But here’s a few more:

D.A.R.E. to Create Your Dream Biz
    D.A.R.E. to Develop Your Dream
    DARE to Focus Forward
DARE to Do it, D@!# it!
Share the DARE to Git Thare

I think we’re trying too hard. It’ll be a Tshirt moment when we hear it, completely unexpected.

  25. Hi Shelley, I was thinking about your business class, maybe keeping with the back to basics
    it could be something like

backtobasics(home?)businessbootcamp (or breakthrough as mentioned above, I feel the same way after being in your class of beta students as well!)

For a main site maybe you could try b2b.com if it’s available. (it’s not but a 2 instead of to may be an option with what ever you choose)

Or backtobasics_____class for any kind of class that you may have.

So many ideas to choose from! I can’t wait to see what you go with.
